1. What was your favorite ISS unit? Why?
My favorite unit was economics because I felt that I did my best in it and my group in every economic activity won the vote of every one.
2. What was your least favorite? Why? Why could be improved?
I least favorite was political science because the video "People like Us" was really repetitive and dry. I thought we could watch a different movie so that we don't have to experience that again.
3. What were 2 things you have accomplished or improved upon this summer?
I think I improved my thesis writing skills and my researching skills.
4. Do you feel prepared to be a high schooler in the fall? Will you be ready for social studies?
Yes I think I am prepared because I know now what it takes to be a high schooler. And I think I will be ready for social studies because I improved my thesis writing skills and my researching skills.
5. What grade do think you deserve? Why?
I think I deserve an "A" because I felt I put my 100% into all of my work.

"People Like Us" Reflection
1. How does the film show the intersection between economics and politics?
It shows it by showing the different places in Amercia and showing how each place was richer than other places.

How much Wealth you posess, the things you buy, the decisions you make indicates your class for example a rich person would usually buy expensive things and a less rich person would buy cheaper things.
3. What "tribe" are you from?
I think I am in the tribe that migrates to different tribes so the tribe that goes in many tribes.
4. What kinds of "tribes" do you see at Punahou?
Not that much because a lot of people like to hang with a lot of diverse people so that we can have a lot friends which is FUN.

Reflection on Geography Unit
1) What are three key ideas or facts that you will remember on year from now?
I will remember that the Europeans conquered the world with "Guns, Germs, and Steel" because it was interesting that those ideas were actually the cause of them taking over nations and nations. I will also remember that geography can influence how history like who ever has the geographical luck they will survive longer and have an advantage to the other places in the world who don't have that luck. Also I will remember that people in the old times really had a hard time of making maps becasue they didn't have the technology we have today.
2) What was the most challenging activity for the unit?
I thought that the google earth project was the hardest activity because it took a lot of time to research and find pictures for the ingredients of the product we chose. And not only that we had to go in-depth into one ingredient and do more research on that. And to top it off putting all that research into Google Earth. I would say that was pretty tough.
3) How is geography relevant to your life?
It is the land I am standing on right now, it is also the land that my ancestors lived on. It pretty much influenced our history of how we became to be. It made us adapt to its land and sea, it made us who we are and what we can do, it made me, me.
4) Based on your research, How are geography and economics connected?
They are connected by agriculture which is both influenced by geography and economics. Because the plant can only be grown in certain places (geography) and the economics demand a lot that plant or crop so that it can be sold which will benefit the economy.
5) Which of the five themes of geography best relates to your google earth project?
I think that the Human-environmental interactions theme is related because in order for the people to grow or make the ingredients to make your product they have interact with the environment like making salt mines for mining the salt, the indonesians need to clear forests to make rice plantations to make the rice grow, etc.

Internet Scavenger Hunt
1. Latitude are the lines that run horizantily from east to west on the globe with the equator being 0 degrees
2. longitude is the angular distance of a place east or west of the standard meridian of celestial object
3. The Tropic of Cancer is in 23 degrees north of the equator (northernmost latitude at which the Sun can appear directly overhead at noon)
4. The Tropic of capricorn is 23 degrees south of the equator (most southerly latitude at which the sun can appear directly overhead at noon)
5. the latitude of the equator is o degrees
6. since the earth is tilted the places that have the tilt facing the sun will have summer because it will get more sun more than places that have the tilt away from the sun, and vice versa when the bottom half of the world tilts toward the sun the bottom half will have summer like season and the top half will have winter like seasons
7.The Prime meridian is 0 degrees longitude bascally it is the oppisate of the equator
8. a List of devoping/devopled countries are • Andorra • Faroe Islands • Ireland • Monaco • Spain
• Australia • Finland • Israel • Netherlands • Sweden
• Austria • France • Italy • New Zealand • Switzerland
• Belgium • Germany • Japan • Norway • Turkey
• Bermuda(UK)• Greece • Liechtenstein • Portugal • United Kingdom

Reflection of Historiography
1) How did conducting research (both for case study and Punahou project) help you understand what historians do?
It helped me understand that being a historian is really hard and it takes lots of time to make really good thesis's on historical event. Also it helped me understand that primary sources are more reliable than secondary sources.
2)What parts of the unit will you remember one year from now?
I will remember the project about Punahou's history because I learned so much more about punahou than I thought I would of learned.
3) What suggestions would you have for next year's class? What could we do differently? Keep the same?
I would suggest that we should have more time on this project so we can make the projects more better, and perfect.

HIstorical Case study
Bus Strike in Oahu
Context: The bus strike was a strike by 1,400 bus workers who wanted their wage and pensions to be increased. Since the OTS (Oahu Transit Services-the private company that runs the city’s TheBus system) did not reach a deal that didn’t satisfy their needs the bus drivers went on strike. Making the usual bus riders have to find alternative ways to get to work, which made traffic problems worse.
Chronology: This event happened on Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at 12:04 a.m. Mel Kahele the president of “Teamsters’ Local 996 said that the OTS did not take the union’s latest proposal to the city administration for consideration. Also after the strike Oahu was back into order and there were less traffic jams. Ended in September 29, 2003
Causation: I think that the major cause of this conflict is that the OTS proposed 34 cutbacks in benefits, also including elimination of 2 holidays, a freeze on wages and pensions for 3 years and a reduction in the company’s contribution to medical premiums. Why did the OTS do so many unfair things in their contracts with the bus workers?
